FIRST PUBLIC LECTURE HELD IN IMSU

The auditorium of the Imo State University, Owerri was on Thursday, 18th September fully seated by both students and other people from all walks of life as the school had her first Public Lecture. The lecture with the Topic: The Anti-Corruption War In Nigeria: A Reality or a Ruse, was delivered by a visiting lecturer, Hon. Justice Obande Festus Ogbuinya (Justice, Court of Appeal of Nigeria, Makurdi Division).
The lecturer in his lecture spoke extensively on the definition, the causes and consequences of corruption in our society and the wars that have been and are been waged against the hydra-headed beast. He also proffered some recommendations to curtail the spread and growth of corruption which included parents setting a good pace for their children and investigation of the sources of wealth of individuals before honoring them with accolades. He also suggested adding the teaching about corruption in school curriculum from secondary to tertiary levels and employing people who have indepth knowledge on the issue to teach it. The visiting lecturer was robed after the lecture. Among those present were the Vice Chancellor, Imo State University, the deputy V.C, the registrar and a host of staff, students and other visitors.
